flight attendant wannabe

I know I said on my last years blog that its gonna be the last time I will apply for the FA position...oh well, crucify me. lol. Im writing this blog so to help out those who are aiming to be a flight attendant too. Here's what transpired last Sunday.

OCT 2. Open day application for QATAR AIRWAYS CV Submission

this was held at Hotel Intercontinental in Ayala. I was on shift the night before. I got home at around 8am from work. Cleaned up and find my way to the traffic of Mckinly towards the venue. I got there around 920 am. The line was so long. TIP : If you wanna finish early, then come early. I couldn't due to my work schedule so I had to endure the long line. At the ballroom reception door, you will have to pre-register first. write your name, number and affix your signature. then on to the reach test. 212 cm. You need to be able to reach it. I am not that tall, I'm 5'3" but I was able to reach it. I knew I would as I have reached it also on my application last year at Diamond Hotel. Submit your resume to the recruiter. You need to make an impression. My exact words were...." Hi, I'm Dina, How you doin'? ( pacasual effect ) then she would ask you a question or two about yourself. Answer confidently. and before I leave, may pahabol ako.....'And oh, I don't want to sound so assuming but just so incase you will contact me, I'm better reach by mobile" ( pa-effect lang ).... FYI, this line has worked twice for me as this was the second time I got shortlisted.

I was expecting a call that afternoon as they did last year... but I didn't get any so I went on thinking ok, I didn't get the part. Come Oct 3, I was on my way to the office when I got a text message from IPAMS that I was shortlisted out of the 1400 applicants and need to attend Oct 4 for exam.

OCT 4. Shortlisted.

I have a shift at 2 pm so I texted my boss that I will be late. I was asked to be at Intercon at 130pm. As I heard, the day before they did 2 batches of 50s and today, earlier that morning, they did 50 and we are the last batch of 50. so that's like around 200 short listed applicants out of the 1400. We started at 3pm though. Quite late. We were all seated and made to watch a video giving background of the company and what is up stake. BTW, married and single moms CAN apply. Even if you don't have a perfect vision, you CAN. After the video, comes the exam.

Exam is composed of English proficiency, time zone and essay. As the exam goes, another reach test will be conducted. One by one you will be checked physically as you do the reach test. they will also ask you for any physical marks that needs to be reported. Those with tatoos, you need to have it declaired, cause even if you have it taken off, it will still fall under visible marks ( scar ).

Dont sweat it... exam is easy. I highly believe that I perfected it. But I dont get in.

THINK ... If only the exam is the basis of getting accepted,,, lahat makakapasa. pero syempre... looks counts. I'm not on top of the game if looks ang basis. and also, out of 1400 applicants.. only what? 25 or 30 will be taken, kahit sinong dyosa, may chance na di makuha. kaya best advice of all...CHILL LANG :)
